Privacy

The short version. The files you open with these tools never leave your device. There are no accounts, no analytics, no tracking scripts and no cookies. Nothing on this site asks who you are, and nothing stores an answer.

Files you open with a tool

Every tool on this site runs inside your browser. When you choose or drop a file, the page reads it directly from your device and processes it using your own processor and memory. The file is not uploaded, not copied to a server, and not seen by me or by anyone else.

It is held only in the memory of that browser tab, and it is gone when you close or reload the page. Nothing is written to disk unless you explicitly save a result, and that save is your browser's ordinary download, straight to your own machine.

You can verify this rather than believe it. Open your browser's developer tools (F12), watch the network panel while you use a tool, and you will see no request carrying your file.

Cookies and browser storage

This site sets no cookies. It does not use local storage or session storage to identify or remember you. Because nothing is stored, there is no cookie banner. A banner would be a request for consent to something that is not happening.

Analytics

There are none. No page-view counter, no heatmaps, no session recording, no third-party measurement of any kind.

Server logs

The site is a set of static files served from Amazon Web Services. Access logging is not enabled, so no record of visits is collected or kept by me.

What I cannot honestly claim is that the delivery is invisible. Sending a web page to your browser requires your IP address, and AWS necessarily handles it to route the response, as any host or network provider between you and any website does. AWS acts as a processor for hosting; I do not retain, analyse or receive that information.

Advertising

No advertising currently runs on this site. The intention is to fund it with ads in future. That is a change to how the site processes data, so it will be a change to this page, made before any ad code is added rather than after. When it happens:

• The advertising provider will be named here.
• Any cookies or similar technologies it uses will be described here, along with what they are for.
• Consent will be requested where UK GDPR and the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations require it, with refusing as easy as accepting.
• It will change nothing about the files you open. Those stay in your browser regardless of how the site is funded.

Email you send me

If you email hello@tabotter.com, I hold that message and your address in order to reply. The lawful basis is legitimate interest: answering someone who has contacted me. Correspondence is kept while it is useful, typically no more than two years, and is never used for marketing.

That mail is handled by Google Workspace, which is my email provider and processes it on my behalf. So a message you send to that address is stored on Google's systems, in the same way any email you send to a business is stored by whoever provides its email. Nobody else receives it.

Worth being plain about, since it sits oddly beside the rest of this page: the files you open with the tools are a different matter entirely. Those never leave your device and never reach Google, me, or anyone else. The distinction is real, not a technicality. Email has to travel to be email.

Your rights

Under the UK GDPR you may ask me to:

• confirm whether I hold personal data about you, and provide a copy;
• correct anything inaccurate;
• erase it;
• restrict or object to how it is used;
• provide it in a portable form.

In practice the only personal data I am ever likely to hold is an email you have chosen to send, so most requests will have very little to act on. Ask anyway if you want to be certain. Write to hello@tabotter.com and you will get an answer within one month.

If you are unhappy with how I have handled your information you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk, the UK's data protection regulator. I would appreciate the chance to put it right first, but that is your choice, not a requirement.

Children

The site is not directed at children and collects no personal data from anyone, so it collects none from children either.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date at the top of the page changes with it. Anything that alters what is collected, advertising being the obvious candidate, will be published here before it takes effect.
