Published because the e-commerce regulations require it. Email is far quicker for anything that needs an answer.
There is no contact form
Deliberately. A form has to send what you type to a server, and this site does not have one, which is the entire premise of the tools. Adding a form would mean adding the exact thing the rest of the site exists to avoid, so there is an email address instead.
Especially useful
- A tool gave a wrong answer. The most valuable message I can get. If you can say what you put in and what you expected, better still, but a rough description is far better than nothing.
- Something is broken in your browser. Please say which browser and which version. Browser-specific failures are close to invisible from my side.
- A tool you keep looking for and cannot find. This is how the list of what to build next gets written.
- A correction to something written here. Including the explanatory parts. If a page states something inaccurate about how a file format works, I would rather fix it than leave it.
Data protection
Requests under the UK GDPR (access, correction, erasure, objection) go to the same address. Please put Data protection in the subject line so it is not missed. What is and is not held is set out on the privacy page, and the short version is that the files you open never reach me at all.
What to expect
This is run by one person alongside other work, so replies are not instant. Anything that looks like a bug in a tool gets looked at first. Data protection requests are answered within one month, as the law requires.
